A letter to a great friend
Dear Willow,
I guess I saw the red bag before I saw you. Being friends for five years now, I had to accept it as a part of you. I always wondered why you carried it everywhere and never took it off your back.
Honestly, I thought it was a joke at first, but now I realise it was not so. I wanted to talk to you about it when rumours started spreading in school, but I saw how it hurt you when people looked at you. That was why I never asked you about it. I did ask your sister the last time we saw her, but she just smiled at me and told me I would find out soon.
Only if I knew soon would be yesterday. I think your mum forgot I was over because I waited in your living room for about thirty minutes. Out of pure boredom, I hid behind the shelf when I heard you open the door. You walked past the room, took off your bag, pulled your hair to the front and jogged upstairs.
That was when I saw it. I was shocked, so I stayed quiet till I did not see you anymore. I waited for five more minutes before I came up to your room. You quickly put your bag back on as you approached me, so I decided to smile and act oblivious.
You may be wondering why I did not say anything yesterday. It is because I know you do not do well in awkward or shocking situations. That is why I am deciding to use your favourite form to let you know. If it may be hard for you to tell me more about it, it is okay to write it down too. I want you to know that everything is fine. You are still Willow to me, and I will always be here for you. I do not care that you have a third arm growing on your back.
